WEATHER
CONDITIONS
Weather conditions: |
| Extremely early snowmelt in April and May. Exceptionally warm the last 10 days of May. Cold first 10 days of June. The summer warm, rainy, no ground-frosts. From the second 10 day-period of June the temperature became close to average. Rains were unusially common, but did not lead to loss of clutches in waders.

BIOTIC
CONDITIONS
| Rodents abundance evaluation: |
low
Breeding conditions:
| Spring migration started early and was prolonged, as well as breeding in waders. Breeding density was average for all species. Arctic skuas and buzzards started breeding with high density, but lost all clutches. A lot of territorial Arctic Foxes were resent, some of them bred, but a single brood with cub was met. Predation rate was substantial - up to 65-70% in Dunlin, Little Stint and Red-necked Phalarope, 10% - in Ringed Plover, and 93% - in Temmink's Stint.

Rodent dynamics:
| Lemmings were scarce in early June and dissappeared by the end of July.

Summary
of fauna studies: |
| 1. Nesting ecology: geese, swans, waders, passerines, birds of prey. 2. Biometrics: waders, geese. 3. Ecological energetics: waders. First results are expected in the WGW Bulletin 1996.
